Understanding map features and how to read them
The Classroom Drone Essentials Program introduces the class to basic mapping features. They even get to design their own!

By taking part in the drone introductory session, the class will be challenged with creating their own maps based on a local level event, this could be something similar to a local flooding event they may have experienced.
By creating their own map icons and analysing satellite imagery the students develop skills and confidence in how to best represent these features on their maps.
Map features can be expanded following this session, when covering areas of the geography curriculum. Here are a few resources you might want to use in class:
